Responsibilites include:

  • Process written requests for the city and common councils.
  • Notify the public of upcoming meetings and hearings.
  • Retain records of the city meetings, including city council meetings.
  • Maintain records of contracts, easements, rezoning actions, and tax-exempt property.
  • File deeds and abstracts to city-owned property.
  • Responsible for distributing ambulance bills and process-related Medicare, Medicaid and other heath insurance claims.
  • Responsible for city insurance: including liability, auto property and employee life insurance.
  • Administer city elections and voter lists.
  • Issue liquor, day care, transient merchant, closing out sale, beverage operator, salvage dealer, and taxicab business licenses.
  • Process annexation requests.
  • Maintain, and assist with development of, the city's code of ordinances.
  • Assign city meeting rooms and handle the city mail (incoming and outgoing).
  • Responsible for the city guide to services and departments.
  • Administer the redistricting process after each federal census.
  • Maintain the official city seal and notarize documents.
