Responsibilites include:
- Process written requests for the city and common councils.
- Notify the public of upcoming meetings and hearings.
- Retain records of the city meetings, including city council meetings.
- Maintain records of contracts, easements, rezoning actions, and tax-exempt property.
- File deeds and abstracts to city-owned property.
- Responsible for distributing ambulance bills and process-related Medicare, Medicaid and other heath insurance claims.
- Responsible for city insurance: including liability, auto property and employee life insurance.
- Administer city elections and voter lists.
- Issue liquor, day care, transient merchant, closing out sale, beverage operator, salvage dealer, and taxicab business licenses.
- Process annexation requests.
- Maintain, and assist with development of, the city's code of ordinances.
- Assign city meeting rooms and handle the city mail (incoming and outgoing).
- Responsible for the city guide to services and departments.
- Administer the redistricting process after each federal census.
- Maintain the official city seal and notarize documents.
