General Responsibilities of the Mayor of Wisconsin Rapids include understanding the major issues impacting our City – social, environmental, economic – and how they relate to one another.

In addition to promoting policies to make our City better and being a spokesperson to lead the City’s effort to create a safer, healthier, and cleaner City, the mayor's responsibilities include:

• Acts as the Chief Executive of the City’s Executive Department.
• Presides over City Council meetings.
• Approves or vetoes legislation submitted by the City Council.
• Appoints members to existing boards, commissions, and committees, with the exception of the Water and Light Commission (all appointments are subject to Council approval)
• Acts as an ex-oficio member of all standing committees.
